European Union is a traditional leader in environmentally friendly energy which is proved by a set of program documents and actual situation. EU-27 member countries are ahead of its major competitors in renewable energy generation -the USA and China. The result of massive efforts aiming European energy decarbonization is stable decrease in greenhouse emissions. However evident changes in recent years marked by coal taking positions of natural gas in European energy mix, make it harder to achieve EU key energy targets.
