Abstracts:

The paper is devoted to experimental investigation of turbulent structure of cavitating flows about a single plate with semi-cylindrical nose, a NACA0015 series hydrofoil and a cascade of three NACA0015 hydrofoils. Instantaneous velocity of the flow was measured by means of PIV/LIF approach. Basing on the ensemble of measured velocity fields, distributions of mean velocity and all statistical moments of liquid velocity fluctuations (up to the third-order ones) were calculated. Turbulent wakes past the foils are shown to form upstream when cavitation number is decreased. Meanwhile, lateral dimension of the wake grows significantly and intensification of turbulent fluctuations occurs as a result of generation of large-scale vortices.
