flow; cylinder; turbulence; suction; heat transfer

The flow between unmovable outer and rotating inner permeable cylinders is considered with suction of liquid through the inner cylinder. The results of numerical simulation on the base of Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes and heat transfer equations joint with equations of turbulent stresses transport are presented. It is demonstrated that critical values of suction velocity, corresponds to onset of centrifugal instability, are independent of gap width between the cylinders. The ability of substantial increase of heat transfer from rotating cylinder due to suction of liquid is shown. It is pointed out the significant influence of size and disposition of openings in cylinder’s surface on the heat transfer.
